Wetlands Delineation
Waters of the United States, including wetlands, are legally protected under the Clean Water Act of 1972. Section 404 of the Clean Water Act gives the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) special regulatory authority over the discharge of dredged or fill materials in wetlands and other waters of the U.S.  In addition, some state and local government agencies have enacted legislation which goes beyond the reach of the Clean Water Act in an effort to further protect wetlands within their borders.  In New Jersey, waters and wetlands not under the authority of the Corps, are regulated by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection under the Freshwater Wetlands Protection Act.  In most instances, wetlands in New Jersey are further protected by buffers known as transition areas, which can extend up to 150 feet from the wetland boundary.

Earth Science Technology, LLC has extensive experience identifying and delineating wetlands and obtaining state and federal approval of wetland boundaries. We perform preliminary wetland delineations and detailed field investigations for both tidal and freshwater wetland areas.  EST's staff is  trained and certified by Rutgers University, Cook College Wetland Delineation Certification Program and employ state of the art global positioning systems equipment (GPS) technology in delineating wetland boundaries.  Our experience allows us to minimize the effect of environmental regulations by identifying and recommending development alternatives.

Wetland Mitigation Design and Monitoring
Today's regulatory climate does not permit significant loss of wetland habitat from construction activities without compensation. In order to offset impacts on wetlands caused by development, wetland mitigation plans are often required. When wetlands are disturbed, construction approvals often require the creation of new wetland habitat in a nearby area as compensation. The creation of wetlands is known as wetland restoration and mitigation.

Earth Science Technology, LLC has the expertise in the complementary disciplines of botany, wildlife management, soil science, hydrology, and horticulture required for design and implementation of successful wetland mitigation and restoration construction projects. EST has prepared conceptual and construction plans for wetland mitigation and restoration projects and has constructed and supervised these projects in the field. Mitigation projects designed by EST have been successful in converting uplands to wetland habitats, restoring wetlands, and in securing final agency approval.

Soil Analysis and Permeability Testing
Earth Science Technology, LLC has a combined experience of more than 35 years of performing soil analysis and testing in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.  We typically perform this service in determining the seasonal high water table and soil permeability in support of the construction of subsurface wastewater disposal systems, stormwater management systems and building foundations.  EST performs all forms of field and laboratory permeability testing including percolation tests, soil class rating tests, basin flood testing, pit-bail testing, and tube permeameters.

Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
Earth Science Technology, LLC recognizes that the costs of identifying environmental liabilities before a final commitment is made to a property or site are generally only a fraction of the costs of dealing with a contaminated site.  The purpose of the Phase I Environmental Site Assessment is to gather sufficient information to develop an independent professional opinion about the environmental condition of the property and to identify actual or potential environmental contamination which may impact the property value.

Earth Science Technology, LLC provides clients with a comprehensive Phase I - based on a thorough literature search of documents related to the site, discussions with environmental officials, and a careful site walk-over.  All Phase I Environmental Site Assessments are performed in accordance with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard for Environmental Site Assessments: Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) Process.

Environmental Permitting
Environmental Impact Studies

Earth Science Technology, LLC provides planning and technical support to obtain environmental permits under CAFRA, the Waterfront Development Act, the New Jersey Freshwater Wetlands Protection Act, the Pinelands Protection Act, the Coastal Wetlands Act of 1970, and the Army Corps of Engineers Nationwide Permit program. EST has built a reputation based on thorough analysis and clearly written documents.  This is particularly important in the preparation of permit applications, where requests for additional information by reviewing agencies can be costly and time-consuming. Our effective communication with both clients and regulatory agencies results in expedited application reviews and greater probability for permit issuance

In New Jersey, EST has obtained land use regulation permits and approvals including Freshwater Wetlands Letters of Interpretation (LOI), Statewide General Permits (SGP), Individual Permits (IP), Water Quality Certifications (WQC) and Transition Area Waivers (TAW). Other New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) permits have included Waterfront Development (WD), CAFRA, Tidal and Stream Encroachment (SE) permits.

For projects which are subject to federal jurisdiction, we have obtained approvals of wetland delineations and authorizations for fill activities from the New York and Philadelphia Districts of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACOE).

Threatened and Endangered Species Population Surveys
As floral and faunal species lose habitat, surveys for home range movements and habitat use have become integral. EST's staff has  researched and prepared assessments vital to the survival of populations of both plants and wildlife. Earth Science Technology, LLC has performed herpetological, avian and floral surveys throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.

CADD/GIS
Earth Science Technology, LLC has extensive experience in the use of CAD and GIS programs necessary for providing valuable mapping for your project. We have supported our clients in preparation of greenways and open space plans, natural resource inventories, and environmental compliance for proposed development projects, all using state of-the-art GIS software. We have also provided services to engineers, surveyors and architects using  AutoCAD software on projects including wetland mitigation and restoration plans; wetland transition area averaging plans; and wastewater and septic system design plans.
